sea turtle redThe Kemp Ridley sea turtle is the turtle in the world's smallest and most endangered. His name is binomial Lepidochelys kempii and one of only two species of life Lepidochelys genus named. A fisherman named Richard M. Kemp, first described this species in Florida. In honor of Mr. Kemp this turtle was named after his name.

This beautiful little creature normally lives in warm water shallow. You are in the Gulf of Mexico coast of Florida and found in the Atlantic Ocean. A small amount of them are recorded in Morocco coast of South Carolina, Texas and North Carolina.

After incubation, the hatchlings are eggs. These young people are only 1-2 cm in length. Hunt in the currents of Mexico coast for about two years. With 12 years they have matured. Average life of Kemp Ridley sea turtle is 50 years or more.

Kemp Ridley sea turtle are endangered as a species have been listed by the IUCN and CITE. You are about to disappear. Pollution and habitat loss are hunted by the people of the greatest threats they face. Complete harvest adult turtles and eggs is another reason for its decline. Today only 1,000 women left in the wild.

Measures to save Kemp Ridley sea turtle were first recorded in 60 of Mexico and the U.S. government in 70 years. A bi-national agreement was signed in 1984 to protect this endangered species.
